Currently I'm. . .

Cooking. . . Nothing tonight since I'll be away from home for a few hours. But I do have a full meal plan including this broccoli, cheese, and potato soup for tomorrow night, spicy black bean burgers on Saturday, and grilled pork chops on Sunday. Quick question: Are y'all interested in me sharing my meal plans again? I noticed those posts weren't getting much attention so I stopped. Let me know as I still plan every week's meals.

Creating. . . Some altered playing cards for a swap.
Here's a little blurred peek at the cards. (I don't want to ruin the reveal for my swap partner)

Drinking. . . Coffee, so I can function.

Eating. . .Nothing at the moment, but I am contemplating an everything bagel with avocado on it (though my menu dictates that I should make a smoothie.)
I gave in. . .The avocado was a little icky, but I got out what I could. It was delish!

Enjoying. . . A little more order and routine in my life now that the move is over, and I can get everyday tasks accomplished.

Finding. . .The magic of our new place unbelievable and awesome as we keep discovering new treasures.
Pat unearthed a 4x4 pole that had this odd metal ball and spike on it. I have no idea the purpose, but the patina totally catches my eye!

Hoping. . . The other house sells soon so we can really focus in on making this one ours.

Knowing. . . I have to have patience, the right buyer will come.

Listing. . .This lovely, romantic keyhole necklace
Blue-green Brass Keyhole Necklace

Making. . . A video of my process for the altered playing cards. (Though I'm still working on editing the video of the last set of cards I made.)

Marveling. . . Over the little things
I'm always distracted and mesmerized by dewdrops or water on leaves.

Needing. . . To really think about my business of being a jewelry-maker and make some decisions. Basically, I need to FOCUS.

Playing. . . Too many games on my phone. I really could be spending that time promoting my business, communicating with others, brainstorming designs or blog posts or whatever. Instead, I go brain-dead and mindlessly play puzzle games. GAH!

Reading. .. Nothing at the moment. Despite Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets sitting on my bedside table, I can't seem to pick it up (no worries, I have read it a few times already). I really should get to the library and find me something new. Any recommendations?

Relishing. . . In this living in the country thing, I think.
How cool is that oak tree rising from and above our little bamboo jungle?

Thinking. . . I really should plan something for my 40th birthday next week or I'll be disappointed I didn't. However, I have no idea how I want to celebrate it and would really rather someone else plan it for me. (I'm so very lazy.)

Wanting. . . It to stay warm longer so we can enjoy the pool. Alas, I think the temps have dropped too far to keep that hope alive.

Wearing. . . Warmer clothes today as even the air is a little chilly this morning.

Wishing. . . There was more time in each day. (Do I always wish for that in these posts?)

Currently I'm. . .

Creating an upcycled necklace.
The focal's made from an old picture frame
Dreaming of one day having some property with chickens and goats and wilderness. One day. . .

Bookmaking this link that perfectly illustrates why you should always use the Oxford comma.

Drinking water. I've always got a glass of water by my side.

Looking forward to going back to the beach before too long.
This weekend it was beautiful!

Enjoying this beautiful spring weather we've been having for the past week or two.

Eating Mexican food for dinner tonight. It is Cinco de Mayo after all.

Giggling over this Cinco de Mayo picture a friend of mine posted on Facebook.
Thanks for the laugh Jen (and Braxton)
Hoping to get some more jewelry made, pictured, and listed soon.

Feeling like I can't ever get anything done.

Playing too many games on my phone (probably why I can't get anything done.)

Taking pictures of my jewelry.

Reading The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler. . .at least that's what's on my nightstand. I haven't touched it in a week.

Needing to go shopping for Mother's Day gifts.

Marveling over all the little changes taking place in my front yard container garden.

Wanting someone else to come finish the laundry for me.

Wearing my linen pants for the first time this Spring.

Working on some altered playing cards for a swap.

Wishing my attention span was a little longer.

Today I'm. . .

Inspiration and Eye Candy

I've been in the midst of catching up on all the things and that includes going through my feedreader, e-mails, digital files, and every other location that I've stashed and saved links. At the beginning of May I mentioned sharing the interesting that I find every so often. As with that post and any other ones I do like this remember - {{If you're going to Pin or Tumble or share these yourself in some way, PLEASE make sure you go to the original source and do so!!}}

Let's start with these tin can lanterns.  These looks super simple to make and how great is the recycling aspect of them!? I think they're perfect for summer, and wouldn't they be great to put some citronella candles in to shoo the bugs away?

These 'bits and bobs' collections from Vintageologie are so very inspiring and beautiful. You can find more like this at the Vintageologie facebook page.
This turquoise, blue, and green collection was my favorite of the three collections.

How simple and yummy are these Strawberry Waffle Parfait bites from The Painted Apron? She combined some great breakfast items with pure delicious-ness to come up with a unique breakfast/snack.

This guitar and bass bangle from Erin Siegel is awesome! It's rock-n-roll, but still nice enough to be worn to work. The link will take you to her tutorial for it, including how to make the chic tassels.

Lastly, this short and sweet list from Handmadeology of some of the most common photography mistakes for your products had me really thinking about my own photos and how to improve them. I hope it helps you too.

I think there's a little something for everyone in this list so I hope you found something to inspire you over the weekend. Have a great one!

Way back when I started blogging (ages ago), I shared bunches of links to just some of the cool stuff I found on the internet. In fact, I shared so many links that I had daily themes as to what I shared. (Seriously, check out April 2008. It's full of linky goodness.) Somehow, I let those posts fall to the wayside. I want to bring my link-sharing back. . . kinda. Now, I promise I won't be doing this daily like I used to. And, I can't promise that I'll even post links weekly. I just want to make sure you get to see some of the awesome, inspiring, and helpful things I find. {{If you're going to Pin or Tumble or share these yourself in some way, PLEASE make sure you go to the original source and do so!!}}

Tidbits and Bobbins

I know I've been a bit absent here lately and I feel like all I've had to share was what I am eating. I do apologize. I've been really busy on a project and can't seem to focus on much else. While relaxing a little this morning, I've been going through my neglected blog feeds. Since I don't have much of my own stuff to share with you, I figured I could at least share some of the other online bits that caught my eye. (Many of these are Christmas related so I apologize to those of you who don't celebrate the holiday.)

So that's what's caught my eye so far. . .and now it's time to get back to my busy-ness.
Thanks for bearing with me.

Busy, Busy Me (a nice long, bulleted list)

Oh so much going on lately. . . OH.SO.MUCH!!!

I've been REALLY lousy at the blogging game (as I'm sure you can tell) and I've got all kinds of excuses, but those can just be rolled into this bullet-ed post (in no particular order, just as it comes to me.)
  • First, formost, and most importantly; Pat and I decided at the beginning of April to jump headfirst into the real estate market. We've put our home on the market and are now looking for another place. We want something a bit bigger (not too much), with some land (at least 2 acres), and hopefully a pool (or some kind of waterfront.) With all of that comes the FRANTIC house cleaning, organizing, packing, and staging of the house for sale.
  • It's simply a busy time of the year for me- the end of April-beginning of May consists of BOTH nieces' birthdays, Pat's birthday, AND Mother's Day. I have no complaints about honoring ANY of the people on this list, it just makes for a hectic time for me.
  • It looks as though Spring in the South is OVER and the heat wave has begun. I think Spring lasted all of a week and a half (give or take a day or two.) I know this has nothing to do with what's kept me busy' just a general observation.
  • Another observation- Peace signs seem to be HUGE with the elementary school kids. Both nieces (especially the older one) have been WAY into anything with a peace sign. During their birthday parties, I saw a ton of them. It was just odd, that's all I'm saying.
  • The iPad came out last month. Pat went ahead and pre-ordered one. We love it so very much. In fact, I now have my own... Which I WON thanks the generous and Funny ladies (yes, with a capital F) over at Southern Fried Snark. Check out their LIVE shows and chat on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9pm CST! As well, there are blog posts there too to keep you entertained.
  • I just got a pair of some of the coolest earrings... For free, kinda. Lori over at  lorelei1141.blogspot.com had an "earring swap" of sorts. She made 18 sets of earrings, which she swapped for beads, buttons, and the like. I played along: picked my favorite pair, commented, and sent off a package to her. Now, I've got the kick-ass earrings!! How awesome is that? Of course, it took me almost a week to decide what to send to her. . .I had a good time sorting through my vintage buttons, miscellaneous beads, and some of my own handmade items to find the perfect mix to send out to her.
  • I've been an avid 'TrueBlood' viewer since the series started on HBO, but hadn't delved into the books...yet. Almost three weeks ago, I ventured to the book store and bought the first three of the series. I've sped through them, reading about three books a week. As such, I'm just about done with them. . . I'm LOVING them. I'm also loving the whole being fully encompassed by books. Anybody got anymore reading suggestions?
  • As most of you know, I live VERY close to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and also that Pat and I are very much water-babies. This whole oil spill/leak thing has completely affected our mood and the need/want to enjoy our coastal region while we can. We're not dealing with it well, at all.
  • With the getting the house on the market, I've gotten quite a few home improvement/home decor projects completed. In fact, I even took pictures to share with you later. . .LATER!
  • Even with an amazingly, wonderfully, eerily clean craft room only steps away; my time in there has been limited because of the many abovementioned issues. I was able to complete one necklace which I donated to a silent auction for a good cause. I failed to get a picture as I was rushing to get it done, but I hear there was a bidding war between three ladies to get my creation! That's so nice to hear!
I guess that's the bulk of what's been consuming my time and many of my thoughts. I just wanted to peek in and share for a bit. I apologize for the lack of pictures, but if I waited until I could get my pictures uploaded, I might never get this posted. . .

So Much to Say (FGF & Valentine)

I broke my laptop - AGAIN! This should explain my lack of posting yesterday.
I had started a post when the whole thing went kaput. So, some of what I'm reporting today was intended for yesterday. Since I have a few things to report, let's do this in list form.

1. First, the tech at work is diligently trying to revive my laptop before I have a serious case of withdrawal over the the weekend. (**edit - I was just informed that I will not get it back until Monday - GAHHHHHHHHH!!!!) Apparently, LOML instructed him to just wipe the whole thing clean and I can start over. This mean EVERYTHING has to be re-installed, but it also means that hopefully some of the little problems I'd been working around will be resolved. So, it's not too bad.

2. Since I don't have my laptop, I'm not able to upload any pictures I took with my camera. Please pardon the lack of pictures today.

3. I have officially opened an Etsy account. Don't get too excited, I've done nothing with it yet. I'm still a little nervous about it with a TON of questions. I need to read all the material, create a banner, figure out the money and shipping situation, take some pictures, list some items, and more - I guess. I'm not really sure until I read the material. However, the initial step has been taken. I'll post more about it when I get more done.

4. Doing the memory wire rings with the youngest niece was even harder than I thought. The older one didn't have any problems. I should have thought the idea through a bit more. I guess it's not a good idea for me to plan craft activities for children until I've had my coffee.

5. I'm ready to reveal what my V-Day project has been for LOML. It's fairly simple: each day I'm leaving him little 'love notes' stashed around the house. For me, these are just slips of paper with a heart drawn on them and a sappy sentence about my love for him (i.e. "I love you more than coffee", "You love makes my heart swell", "You are the bestest", etc.) I'm leaving the notes all over the house in places I think he'll find them - next to the coffee maker, on his pillow, on top of his laptop, on his office door, where ever. I'm leaving him one note per whatever number day it is (today is Feb. 6th - he'll get six notes today.) This will work up to Valentine's day. So far, he's seemed to like it. I know it's corney, but it is cute. You should see some of the really hokey notes I've written. PLUS, each note has a doodle of some sort on it that incorporates a heart or hearts. Sappy, sweet - I know - but, it's Valentine's Day. This idea can be taken in a variety of directions - write little poems, use quotes from love poems or songs, etc.

It's "Feel Good Friday". Unfortunately, after you've had to read all the above - I've only got a few links for you. Here they are though!!
Valentine links for today:
That's all for now. I hope you have a great weekend. Think about me while you are surfing the net as I will be without - you lucky dogs!!

Ball Prep and Hair Cuts (ThTh)

I hope you guys have been more crafty than I have been this week.Geez! Getting ready for this ball has basically taken away all my free time. Tonight will be another night of no-go crafting - kinda. I will be prepping decorations and making food for the ball. This usually involves mass amounts of glitter, some hot glue, and lots of food cutting/ rolling. So, it can be crafty - but not in the personal kind of way.

I do look forward to this night as one of my best friends and I get tickled every year (and everyone else thinks we're nuts) because our typical assigned job is to 'cut the cheese.' Inevitably, we make cracks about how "I'm cutting more cheese than you are" and "The cheese that I'm cutting is bigger than yours." followed by mass amounts of giggling. By the way, we both made it out of middle school without a problem.

Moving on, I was successfully able to go out and get LOML and my hair cut last night. We both avoid this activity like the plague. Neither of us care for the chit-chat in which you must engage with the hairdresser. We'd both rather just answer questions about how the hair should be cut and wait patiently while it gets done. We like this one place and had a great guy cutting both of us. He would talk the entire time, just ramble on, and all we had to do was reply with the standard 'Uh-huh's', 'Oh yeah's', and 'Really's'. He wasn't there last night (frown). So, we endured the random, awkward conversation with the very nice young lady who worked with us and then got the heck out of there. I guess it's a little weird that we're both so anti-smalltalk, but what's funnier is how long we can discuss (afterwards) the the bits and pieces of the uncomfortable exchange. We laugh and laugh about how much we hate that part of getting our hair cut. I know we're weird, but perfectly made for each other.

I guess that's enough chit-chat from me for now. You probably came here for "Thrifty Thursday" anyway. I gotta give the people what they want:Looks like I'm a little chatty today. Sorry!! I must be light-headed from the haircut. Get it? he he he he. Later!

Do You Really Have a Ball? (WWWW)

Oh, I did so good last night that I feel comfortable enough to actually post a bit.
See, my Mardi Gras Society is hosting its annual ball this weekend. As such, I have a long list of tasks that need to be completed in order to consider myself ready for it. These include: preparing food, getting my mask (yes) ready by attaching it to some old sunglasses and making a beaded chain, getting my props ready, getting my hair cut, ensuring I have all the necessary undergarments, delivering my guests' tickets, getting packed for the hotel, and on and on. Last night, I was able to complete quite a few of these tasks and I feel a lit better about it.

For those of you not "in the know" Mobile, AL celebrated Mardi Gras FIRST in America. Yes! American Mardi Gras began in ALABAMA, not Louisiana. The confusion comes because the celebration of Mardi Gras was stopped during the Civil War. Post-war, New Orleans began celebrating again before Mobile was able to, and are thus given the credit. Yet, the Mother of Mardi Gras is Mobile thankyouverymuch!!

Okay, that rant is over. You should see the one I started to post yesterday about coffee. It's NOT a good week to mess with me.
I did have a brainstorm of what my 'romantic valentine gesture' will be for LOML* this year. I may share this with you guys a little later as he doesn't read my blog (he has to put up with enough of my ranting and craziness in person.)

Speaking of craziness, it's "Wild, Wild Web Wednesday". Check out some of the cool and crazy stuff I've found on the interwebz:Lastly, I did post on the Fairy Creative blog today to check out my week in craft.
Here's the standard sneak peek.
Back to getting some stuff done. Happy day!!

A Quickie (WWWW)

I'm late, I'm late!! Well, not in the way I WANT to be, but I am late posting today. I've had a shoddy internet connection, and because of the work-task I was doing, posting was inconvenient.
Now, LOST is coming on and I want to attempt to craft while watching.
So, I don't really have much to say anyway and just want to pass on a few links.

First, here are some more inauguration links I happened upon after my posting yesterday. These are a bit more creative:
Now, on to some "Wild, Wild Web Wednesday"That's all I got for you now. Perhaps some deep thoughts later.

Blogging Self-Pity

Geez, I must be pretty boring or a really bad host. After looking over my analytics program, I realize that I'm getting fewer and fewer visitors. The ones who actually visit are only staying for less than a minute.

I've got to find some way to get some more attention here. Flashing my boobs always worked for me in college. Yet, I'm not drunk enough to try THAT this morning. I'm also not really sure what to do to improve this standing either. Suggestions? - Wait, who am I kidding? If you guys aren't leaving comments, answering polls, or reading this BS for more than a minute, why would I expect you to give me some suggestions. . .

I'll continue to post here for my own selfish, misguided reasons, and I'll pretend that I'm getting more attention than you.

Aaaaaand, since I'm being selfish - I shall post a picture of my cat for me to enjoy!
After a long day of highlighting, Asia collapses in a spot of sunshine in the floor while still clutching the bright yellow tube.

Just to Let You Know. . .

I have made it home and am back at work today. A week is a really long time to neglect my work-related feed reader. I had over 1600 feeds to trudge through. I have been working on these since about 9:30 this morning. It's almost 2pm and I still have 455 to go. I'll try to post something more pleasant to read later, I've just got to get through the mountain of blogs first!!
Later.

Phone it In

Apparently, my LBS (Lazy Blogger Syndrome) has been acting up more than usual lately. I'm still trying to get some tasks taken care of and LOML* just got back in town yesterday.

It's "Feel Good Friday," and today I have a little story for ya. You should feel so good about yourself after reading this, because at least you didn't do it!Before I had to go get LOML* from the airport, I wanted to clean up a little so the house would be nice(er) for him. He woke me with a phone call yesterday to let me know he was at the airport in San Diego. From there, I got up and started to clean the kitchen before stripping the bed and washing the linens. When the wash cycle was done, I started transferring the wet linens from the washer. As I reached the bottom of the barrel, I heard something hard hitting the sides. It turned out to be the cordless phone I had answered only a few hours earlier. It had gone through the ENTIRE wash cycle in the washing machine. This is only something I could do, seriously. I took the back off the phone, unhooked the battery, and shook as much water out of the thing as I could. I left it on the counter to dry as I rehearsed how I was going to tell LOML*. However, the more I thought about it, the funnier it became. Fortunately, he laughed when I broke it to him. Later last night, I plugged the battery back in to find that it still worked. After a little charging, it even had a dial tone. We couldn't believe it. I'm not sure of the model, but it's an AT&T phone. Apparently, it can take a licking, washing, and turn through the spin cycle and keep on ticking. One thing we know for sure - it's REALLY clean now!

Yeah, I can be a big ditz sometimes. At least we bought a really good phone that could withstand a Hope-incident. Sigh.

It's Not Botox, But. . .

How do you like the new duds? I decided the blog needed a bit of a facelift. This is as far as I got. I'm sure there may be more to come, I might even get a new template, but I'm not sure yet. However, I am QUITE proud of myself. I know the header needs some tweaks and LOML* said he would help me and give me a tutorial to be able to get the image(s) on the header that I want. Now that I know it's so easy, you may see more and more up there.

Let me know what you think or if you notice any problems that I didn't.
Thanks!!

Catpeople

Just a quick, random observation:
Do you think it's true that people and their pets take on similar traits?
Lately, I've found myself distracted by (and compelled to watch) bits of fuzz and hair that are floating near or above my head.
On some occasions, I swat at it. At other times, I just watch it. Seriously!
I make fun of my cat for doing this exact. same. thing.

Sharing Food

So I've really cut back on my portion sizes at meals over the past several weeks. As a result, it does not take much to make me full. Yet, as soon as that digests, I'm hungry again. I tend to like a small snack around 3pm. At work, I've got a jar of unsalted peanuts and some banana chips in a drawer for these occasions. This snack craving came over me just now and I remembered that I've got a can of boiled peanuts (yes a CAN) in my pantry that I've been saving for just such an occasion. As I swing open the pantry door, I notice that the can is gone! GONE! Glancing in the trash, I see the empty, discarded can of salty, savory boiled peanuts. I hurry back to LOML's* office and ask if he indeed ate 'my' peanuts. He confesses and apologizes. Now, I'm stuck with this craving and a sense of resentment toward my wonderful husband.

How do other couples handle sharing food? I have NO problem sharing most foods with my husband. Yet, the problem is: I get so upset when he eats the last or all of certain foods before I even get any. This is only true of foods that I buy or have in the house because they are my 'favorites'. Other foods that are his favorites do not cause me this grief. However, when we both like them (and he tends to like many of my favorites), they are often gone before I get any. Many times I am saving an item or have been looking forward to it. I feel like a big baby being upset because he ate something he likes too. Do other couples have this same problem? Does anyone else feel this way? Am I really this selfish? I need feedback!

'Trying' to Get Pregnant

At what point do you stop trying to let it “happen naturally” and begin to actually “try” to get pregnant? Is it better to stop stressing about it so it just happens, or should you start scheduling intimacy and checking temperatures and such?

In fact, ‘TRYING to get pregnant’ is such an ugly term. It just lets people know that you have sex with your husband. Who needs to know that? Sorry, I guess I just revealed that information to all of you. I just hate the term ‘trying to get pregnant.’ I tell people “we’ve decided we’re ready to have children.” Isn’t that enough? Now, if it would just happen already, I’m getting OLD over here.

Splendid Lazy Vacation

I'm still coming down from that vacation-high of the lazy notion of: nowhere to be, nothing NEEDS to be done, eat and drink whatever, stay in pajamas all day and watch the waves. In short, we had a fabulous time at the condo. It was so very nice. I did take some pictures to share, but the dang vacation-lazies keep me from uploading them. I'll be back soon.

NEW website (and blog to go with it)

Hey y'all!! I've got some news. It's great, but also bittersweet. After almost NINETEEN years here on Blogger/Blogspot, I'v...
